You can browse without an account. We use Cloudflare to deliver the site and display selected government business records. We do not add advertising trackers or personal contact lists. You can contact us about your information or a listing that concerns you.
This overview is a guide. The sections below contain the full policy.01Public business contact information
We supplement selected listings with publicly advertised business phone numbers, websites and shared business email addresses from business websites and open business directories, including Overture Maps. We use business name and location evidence to associate those contacts with a listing. We do not guess email addresses or add private owner contact details. The source links, matching method and checked date are displayed with available contacts.
These contacts are provided for business research. They may be outdated or incorrectly matched and do not establish consent to marketing. You can request a correction or suppression at business@newbizradar.ca. Include the listing identifier and disputed detail. Contact information flagged for suppression will be withheld on later data refreshes. Read our matching and source information.
02The mobile preview
The mobile preview is available in your browser and is being prepared for iPhone and Android. Guest saved leads, conversation notes, contact details you enter and follow-up dates are stored on your device or browser. They are not uploaded to a NewBiz Radar account. Clearing browser or app storage can remove them. You can clear the guest workspace in Account settings.
If you choose “Show my location”, the app requests foreground location permission to centre the map. We do not store that location in your NewBiz Radar account or track you in the background. You can use the city filters without location permission. The browser map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives technical requests including your IP address and the map area requested. Installed apps use platform map services when configured. Opening directions, telephone, email or website links passes the selected destination to that app or service.
Clerk sign-in and RevenueCat store subscriptions are prepared integrations, not active customer services in this preview. Once connected, account workspaces will be separate from guest workspaces. Private lead notes will be linked to your account and kept until you remove them or delete the account, subject to backups and legal retention. We will update the provider disclosures before enabling customer accounts or payments.
03Who is responsible
NewBiz Radar ("we", "us" or "our"), based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, operates newbizradar.ca and its business explorer. We are responsible for personal information under our control. This policy covers our website, our handling of public business records, and communications you send us.
For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or a complaint, contact the person responsible for privacy at business@newbizradar.ca, with “Privacy request” in the subject. Applicable Canadian privacy laws, including Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and federal law where it applies, govern our responsibilities. This policy does not reduce your legal rights.
04What is available today
The current public preview offers free browsing of business records. It does not provide customer sign-up, account access, CSV exports, paid checkout or a trial activation. You do not need to give us your name, email address or payment details to browse.
Account and payment features described elsewhere on the site are planned. Before introducing them, we will update this policy to explain the information collected, providers involved and choices available. We will request any consent the law requires.
05Information we handle
- Website requests: our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, browser or device information and security events. Provider logs and diagnostics may contain this information.
- Your communications: if you contact us, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your name, email address, message and the business record you are asking about. Please do not send passwords, payment card details or unnecessary sensitive information.
- Public business records: we obtain selected records from Corporations Canada and municipal open-data sources in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Available fields include business name, city, province, category, record date, licence or registration status, source identifiers, source links and some business street addresses.
Search filters operate in your browser in the current preview. Filters included in a page URL may nevertheless appear in hosting logs. We do not build personal advertising profiles from your searches.
A business name or address can identify a person, especially for sole proprietors. Public availability does not automatically remove privacy obligations. Our feed processing withholds federal registered-office street addresses and municipal street addresses identified by the source as home-based. Source classifications can be incomplete; tell us if a listing exposes personal information that needs review. We do not add owner profiles, personal contact emails or phone-number enrichment.
06Why we use information
We use information to deliver and secure the website, display and explain business records, diagnose service problems, respond to requests, correct information, and comply with legal obligations. Public business records support business discovery and research; a listing does not establish a person’s willingness to receive marketing.
Where consent is required, we seek consent appropriate to the information and purpose. Where the law permits collection or use without consent, we remain responsible for meeting its conditions. We do not treat a visit to this site as blanket consent to unrelated uses. We do not sell visitors’ personal information or support correspondence to advertisers. Our product provides access to selected public business records, which is distinct from selling information about site visitors.
09Processing outside Canada
Cloudflare operates a global network. Information may be processed or stored outside Alberta and Canada, including in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. It may be accessible to authorities under the laws of those jurisdictions. We do not promise Canadian-only storage.
We remain accountable for information under our control when service providers process it. Contact our privacy contact for questions about foreign service providers, their purposes or our handling of information outside Canada. External government sources and websites have their own privacy practices.
10Retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, applicable legal obligations and the establishment or defence of legal claims. Support correspondence is kept while a request is being handled and where needed to document its resolution. Technical log retention depends on the relevant provider and service configuration; it is not a permanent customer search history maintained by the application.
The public explorer currently uses a rolling research window of approximately 90 days from each snapshot’s collection date. Older deployment files or backups may persist beyond that window; the display window is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. When information is no longer required, we delete it or make it non-identifying, subject to backup cycles and legal retention requirements.
We use HTTPS and restrict administrative access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We assess suspected privacy incidents and make notifications to affected individuals or regulators where applicable law requires them.
11Access, corrections and removal requests
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, how it is used or disclosed, request access or correction, or raise a concern. You may also withdraw consent for uses that rely on consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions explained to you. Withdrawal may affect a service that needs that information. Erasure is not an unconditional right in every situation, but we will consider deletion and suppression requests and apply the law.
For a business listing, include its name, source, record identifier or a screenshot, the information in question and the requested correction. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity or authority. We will respond within the applicable statutory time limits and explain any permitted refusal, extension or charge before proceeding.
We can review our own display and handling of a record. We cannot change the government source itself; you may also need to contact that publisher. A source update may not appear until a later snapshot. Where a request warrants suppression, we will take steps to prevent the issue recurring when we refresh the data.
You may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or, where federal law applies, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Contacting us first does not limit your right to approach a regulator.
12Children and changes to this policy
This is a business research service intended for adults, not children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and address it.
We will post revisions here with an updated effective date. For material changes affecting information already collected, we will provide additional notice and obtain fresh consent where required. New wording does not retroactively authorize an incompatible use of personal information.
